It comes of no surprise that TATT (Tired All The Time syndrome) is one of the most common complaints in the doctors surgery, especially at this time of year, when the dark mornings and dark evenings make us want to crawl back under the duvet and stay warm, cosy and snug. However for most of us hibernation isn’t an option, especially if you are trying to run your own business. The day ahead must be met head on, regardless of how much or how little energy we have.

Spring is a time when many people consider should they move house or should they adapt their own home to their needs. Many people live in their home the way they bought it and only change the cosmetics and not the shape, number or type of the rooms. By careful remodelling people can live in a home where all of their space needs are met.

It is too easy to feel overwhelmed with life and the constant demands on our time and energy. If we have children, at times, the incessant demands of raising, guiding and helping them through life can feel exhausting. If our children have grown up, we could be looking after Grandchildren and giving of ourselves constantly to family. It could be that we are striving to keep up with others or chasing happiness though achieving the next goal constantly which leaves us feeling depleted and unfulfilled.

The Forest House Press is proud to announce a new series of writing courses, ‘A Case of Wonders,’ taking place in inspiring settings across the north east. Each course uses a vintage case chosen to enhance the writing experience. The ‘forest’ case contains tiny bell jars filled with moss, seeds and lichen; tiny felted woodland creatures; boxes painted with images of woodland life – and containing tiny handmade books. There are writing prompts inscribed on labels decoupaged with leaves and seeds; the feathers of forest birds; pieces of bark and seed cases – and an altered book painted in the colours of the forest. Tiny envelopes inside hold words, phrases and artefacts. The forest case, which started life as a battered old cardboard case, is decorated with vintage book pages and decoupaged with leaves and moss. It will be used ‘in situ’ in our Chopwell Forest environmental writing classes – but will also take the forest experience into libraries, classrooms and cafes – wherever the writing happens!
